Featured on Style Me Pretty Canada with BlushPretty!

I’m super excited to share with you a photoshoot that I was a part of in mid-November working for BlushPretty. We are featured on the biggest wedding blog in Canada: Style Me Pretty Canada.

Working alongside Magnolia Studios and other vendors on a shoot planned by Blossom Events was truly a pleasure. Everybody was so good at what they do. For the shoot, BlushPretty was represented by Stephanie Daga on hair, and me on makeup. Want to see more? Smokey Eye Inspired By Jennifer Lopez

Oftentimes we get inspiration from celebrities. My sister Liza (and my most loyal client who doesn’t ever pay me, ha!) had a wedding to go to this summer and she handed me this photo of Jennifer Lopez. We like her makeup. Through the years of making her over, she has become more comfortable with me having a go at her face. She used to just ask for a natural eye. Oh how things have changed. :)

Aren’t They Pretty? BlushPretty Makeup Artists Photo Shoot

You guys, I’m so lucky to be a part of the amazing BlushPretty team. Not only are these ladies incredibly talented, but as you will see in the following photos, they are beautiful as well. While we all felt kinda awkward in front of the camera, our hair and makeup artists’ head shots photo session was so much fun.  Thanks to our photographers, Jeoff of JFrancisco Photography and Kin of Kindle Photos for making us look good.

That’s me in action. :)

Wedding Makeup: Glamourous Eyes and Flawless Skin

It’s been a crazy busy summer of wedding makeup and I’ve been having such a wonderful time! Yesterday I met the lovely Marie, who wanted a natural colour palette with glamour on the eyes. :) Her skin is absolutely flawless so I kept the foundation very minimal, and just a touch of natural blush and pink lips. We agreed that she has the type of eyes that show off makeup beautifully, so my job was pretty easy dolling her up.

Isn’t she beautiful?

Wedding Makeup: Soft Smokey Eye

Since wedding season is right around the corner, I thought I’d show my favourite bridal look here.  The look is a taupe smokey eye; soft yet glamorous.

When I started this look I initially went with a deep purple shade for the outer corner, but it was quickly turning into a “I got punched in the eye” kinda look.  Instead of purple, the combination of chocolate brown and black on the outer corner balanced out the look very well.  A super thin line on the bottom lash line adds definition but keeps the look from looking heavy.

I kept the lips a natural pink colour by combining two of my works-for-everyone shades: MAC Patisserie and Viva Glam V.

Oh and, can we talk skin?  Ayu has really pretty freckles, so I kept the foundation light.  I highlighted under the eyes, cheeks and nose with YSL Touche Eclat (OMG – totally sold on this product!).  A quick dusting of the new for summer YSL Terre Saharienne in Nº 2 Sunkissed, and the look is done!

What do you think?  Should I turn wedding makeup into a series?  Check out more photos including a before and after!
